In response to our coverage, as well as to
several Reader to Reader
letters, the local community has generously donated yarn.
The Rotary
Club of London kindly provided some funding for the purchase of
yarn in
the Club’s
beginning year. Since becoming a registered charity, The
Crochet Club of London has held raffles to help
maintain our supply of
yarn. In 2008, the Club was the Winner of the Pillar
"Community
Impact Award", and received it's largest donation, - a prize of
$2,500!
The Crochet Club has also enjoyed opportunities
provided by the
Western Fair Association and local shopping malls to
increase our
visibility and to expand our membership and our donation
base.
While there are no membership dues, the Board
of Directors, at a
special meeting in September 2002, decided to ask for a
voluntary
Loonie or Toonie donation at the
monthly meetings. This money is
used to help defray the cost of labels, photocopies, stamps, thank
you
notes, flyers, business cards, etc. There
is an increasing number of
requests for afghans as The
Crochet Club of London’s visibility
in the
community continues to grow. As a
result, the Club is always
eager to
find individuals, local groups, or
foundations that can help provide
the
yarn we need for the afghans we donate.
We are very grateful for yarn and monetary donations. Tax
receipts are
issued for financial contributions. If you
would like to support our charity,
please contact the
club.
