The Crochet Club's origins go back to 2002 when President Patty Attkins, a retired school teacher, advertised an opportunity for interested crocheters to get together to make blankets to be given to those in need. Approximately 18 people responded. Today the Club consists of approximately 80 members, of all ages and ability. The Crochet Club has no paid employees, and is a strictly volunteer-driven, non-denominational organization.
Now in its 14th year, the Club is proud to have donated over 9,750 blankets to local charitable organizations in the London community, and over 1,600 pet blankets to local animal shelters and organizations.
